AI Analysis
AI Analysis transforms your journal entries into a structured personal memory.
It runs in the background, organizes themes, memories, people, and projects, and builds a temporal understanding of your life over time.
AI Modes
Confidential AI (Default)
End-to-end encrypted AI for maximum privacy.
- Encrypted processing
- No raw journal exposure
- Privacy-first architecture
Confidential AI is enabled by default for all users.
You can learn more about how it works here.
Standard AI
Powerful AI for the highest output quality.
- Stronger reasoning performance
- Optimized for complex contextual understanding
- Not end-to-end encrypted
You can switch between AI modes at any time.
Activation & Deactivation
AI Analysis can be activated or deactivated directly from the AI Analysis page by holding click on the AI orb to activate or deactivate analysis.
When Activated
- New entries are analyzed automatically
- Past unanalyzed entries are processed gradually
- Analysis progresses from oldest entries to newest ones
When Deactivated
- No new analysis runs
- Existing structured memory remains intact
- You can safely import or modify entries without triggering analysis
Temporal Processing Rule (Very Important)
AI Analysis always runs chronologically:
From the oldest entry to the most recent.
Why?
Because DeepJournal builds temporal memory structures.
Re-analyzing older entries after newer ones would break chronological consistency.
If an analysis already exists for a recent entry:
- The system will NOT analyze older entries afterward.
- This prevents temporal corruption of structured memory.
Importing Past Journal Entries
There is currently no automatic import feature.
If you want to migrate from another journal:
- Deactivate AI Analysis first
- Copy-paste all your past entries into DeepJournal
- Once everything is imported:
- If some analysis already exists → use Reset All Analysis
- Then reactivate AI Analysis
- Analysis will start from the oldest entry and proceed forward
If you do not deactivate first, the system may start analyzing newer entries and block older ones from being processed.
Reset All Analysis
You can fully reset your AI memory.
This will:
- Delete all structured memory (memories, threads, relations)
- Reset analysis progress to zero
Your original journal entries are NOT deleted.
After reset:
- You can restart analysis from scratch
- You can switch AI mode before restarting
AI Credits
AI Analysis consumes AI credits.
Each entry analyzed uses credits depending on:
- Entry length
- Selected AI mode
- Depth of analysis
Important:
If you reset all analysis, you may not have enough AI credits to re-analyze all your entries.
You can check your remaining AI credits in the settings.
